About Roti
Tradition and the pursuit of quality define our menu
The Hindi word "Roti" is best known to mean the round flat bread slowly cooked in a skillet, synonymous with Indian home cooking. It however has a second, more important meaning: Food as a giver of life.
Our love for food, tradition and Indian culture has shaped our life-long dream to bring to Malta nothing but the most genuine home-style cooking enjoyed daily throughout the Indian sub-continent.

From India to Marsascala! Set in the heart of this picturesque seaside village in the south of Malta, Roti is the brainchild of Gajesingh Bist, hailing from the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand, at the foothills of the Himalayas. Gajesingh, known to all as Jay, and the kitchen staff together bring decades of experience in the restaurant business in India and Malta.
Roti is based on two fundamental ideals: we serve truly authentic, traditional Indian food with only the freshest of ingredients - childhood principles instilled in Jay when he fell in love with the home cooked food painstakingly prepared by his mother, with the promise of finally bringing to Malta the real taste of India!
Our Founders
Gajesingh Bist
Gajesingh, known to all as Jay, has been a staple fixture in the restaurant scene in Malta for the past 2 decades, having managed a number of restaurants across the island.
Driven by his first hand experience of what residents and tourists demanded at Indian eateries and, coupled with his passion for quality food, Jay was the driving force behind the establishment of Roti - with a single mission in mind: Combining quality, tradition and value in a uniquely authentic experience of India.
